online store info

I've had to make some changes to my business lately as I'm sure you've noticed. So far this has all been an experiment, and I'm constantly trying to adapt to come up with a better product and business. Launching my website and moving my online store over to Big Cartel was a strategy devised to shape Wiksten into more of a ready-to-wear clothing line, as opposed to a custom business. At this point it's impossible for me to keep up with the demand for made-to-order garments, and custom fitting each item takes an incredible amount of time that I just don't have. So everything in the online store from here on out will be already sewn and ready to ship the next business day. Although Wiksten has shifted to a more professional approach, keep in mind that everything is still handmade by me, and therefore the quantity is extremely limited. But please don't be disappointed if you don't get something tomorrow or if you don't see your size in the store because I'll be adding several garments to the store every Saturday all summer.

Since I'm not doing custom sizes anymore, I've changed my size chart to reflect a more nuanced range of sizes that will ensure a perfect fit. I've posted the new size chart below. The garments in the spring collection are fitted in the shoulders and chest but loose in the waist and hips, so it's more important to pick your size based on your chest circumference (measure around the fullest part of the bust). If you have wide shoulders or like more room in the chest, order a size up. If you're between sizes and you like a very narrow fit, order the smaller size. I can't offer refunds, but if you're not happy with the fit of your garment I will try to come up with a solution if you e-mail me within one week of receiving your item.

The online store will be open tomorrow, Saturday, May 31 at noon (central time). I've posted the size chart and more information on the FAQ page of the site as well.

I am so excited Jenny. The collection, website, everything looks great. I totally understand that you have decided not to do custom sizes. Even though cutom-fitted clothes are awesome, I imagine you would be totally overworked as your business grows.

craftmonkey,

someday hopefully that will happen! i'm only one person, and i just can't grade that many patterns! most of my customers fit into the size chart that i've set up. i'm sorry that i can't accommodate everyone.
