birthday surprise

I should have posted this a week ago when it happened. It was the event of the year--Tova Fales' birthday. What was I to do? "Spoil the crap out of her" was my first instinct. After combing the "My Little Pony" aisle at Target for the perfect pony accessories (Hi, my name is Jenny, and I was a child My Little Pony-aholic.), I decided to also make Tova a top. I've never actually made a child-size anything before, so I was a little scared. I bought a very plain kids' pattern at the store and used it as a sloper to create my first child's pattern ever. It was fun. I think she liked it.

Then came Elly's birthday the very next week. Elly is Tova's mom, so I thought "Why not make her a matching top as a joke?" I knew without a doubt that she would think it was funny because what's dorkier than wearing matching mom/daughter outfits? Well, I don't know how they did it, but somehow Elly and Tova managed to make it look very cool. I guess being cool just comes naturally to some people.

Ah, you too? I think I had over fifty - I used to play with them for hours, making up stories of adventure.

So incredibly cute! Your designs are so classic and beautiful. I can't afford them, myself, but that doesn't matter. It's been enough for me to watch your little design business grow. You're obviously passionate about it, and it's such a joy to see someone with passion succeed. Seriously...you are too cool! Okay, I'll stop gushing now...:P

That top is adorable. And it looks like if you had a small baby you could use it as a dress, and then later as a top. I also like how well she coordinates with the bed in the last picture, and I love the red shoes!

What a wonderful top! And she looks ridiculously cute in her red shoes and cuffed jeans. I don't think I've ever been that stylish!
