what the....?

Look what I found hidden under the bed skirt this morning as I was making the bed...an ice ax! (Yes, Seymour often helps me make the bed.) Oh my goodness, Joe cracks me up so much. My first published pattern is coming out in a new sewing magazine in the fall (yay!), and the editor asked me to write a three sentence bio for myself. Joe and I wrote it together, bandying about ideas and laughing until we were almost crying. Here's the first sentence we came up with: "Jenny Gordy has been named one of the best young designers under 30 by her own mother." Oh, it's nice to have a husband who makes me laugh.

Aren't husbands great? It's always nice to see someone enjoying her marriage.

hahaha! oh jenny, that joe is a hoot. and quite the catch it seems- i hope nathan has some seriously scarey looking axes close by hand to protect me from crazy people. in fact, i refuse to marry him until he does.

and that is the best first sentence ever! i can't wait to see what came after.

that's brilliant, and so true! Who doesn't need a good dose of Mom's faith in us to boost us from time to time?

do do do tell what magazine and when, particularly closer to the date, so I won't forget. Won't you? I can't wait to see it. I'm practically salivating just thinking about it.

oh, and speaking of patterns (as I hang my head with shame) ... the VERY day I went to your old wiksten blog while at school (no ink in the printer at home) to print the peter pan collar tutorial, that VERY day was the day you took the site down. Entirely my fault for not doing it sooner! (mea culpa, mea culpa!) But ... is there any way to access that inspired tutorial again? I'd love to use it to trim the vest that I'm currently drafting! While I COULD just do it myself, I'm sure it wouldn't turn out half so well without your help.

my funny husband likes to hide behind the displays at the grocery store and watch me look all over for him. then he pops out and pretends to be looking at something-- all innocent like.

Nice ice axe!!

Love the bio - made me laugh out loud.

Can't wait to see your pattern printed. Your designs are beautiful.

now, that's a bio we can all relate to. :-)

Nice. The ice axe is the perfect non-scary item to keep by the bed but surely will keep you safe if ever you really do get attacked by an axe murderer! If that ever happens, please post photos of said axe-war.
:)

Oh my. Nothing like a little home-protection.

And to echo others, PLEASE! tell more about the new magazine! Besides your pattern, I'm excited at the prospect of a magazine cool enough to publish you!

My husband will wait until I am at one end of the crowded frozen food aisle (and he's at the other) to yell:

"Hey, hon! Are you still constipated? We should buy some laxatives while we're here!"

And tells rooms full of people how I make him sit down to pee 'cause I got tired of cleaning the toilet seat.

Totally immature. And totally hilarious.

It's comforting to see other husbands who keep random objects by the bed at night. Sometimes I wonder about guys....

I love your pieces, I have been blog stalking for awhile now :)

My beloved husband has a 'bugger-off stick' hanging from our bed - not quite sure what it is - maybe an old chair leg?

Very excited about your pattern. I've been hoping that you'll start selling your own range of patterns(?!). Hope the magazine makes it to Oz. Very exciting!

oh, please, please let it be the Ellybeth shirt pattern! Ok, that's probably asking too much, but I do so love your designs! Can't wait for more info...
