So a couple of weeks ago my laptop broke. Then a day or two later, I broke Joe's laptop as well when I spilled water all over it. Don't worry, I slapped myself hard on the wrist for that one! Although, both laptops were about seven years old, so it's a wonder that they hadn't died long ago. Over the next few weeks two things happened: (1) our lawnmower broke and (2) our washing machine broke. I'm glad we paid that repair guy $80 to tell us the washer was unfixable. It just really hasn't been my summer. People already throw trash in our yard. (I think because maybe we don't mow it enough and the neighbors are trying to tell us something?) So we definitely had to buy a new mower right away. As for the washing machine? I'll still be handwashing my fabrics in the sink for the next few weeks. It's kind of fun though. I makes me feel like an old-timey washer woman.
There is some good news in all this though. We were able to use some student loan money to score a brand new desk top Mac! Woohoo! It's gorgeous. And huge. I can watch movies while I sew like I have a flatscreen tv. I never thought I'd be living in such luxury. And best of all, I finally had a good reason to get one of these Shim + Sons mousepads. I've been obsessing over them since I first saw them. They're even better in person. I can't for the life of me figure out how Sally makes them, but truthfully I'd rather not know. I prefer to think of it as magic.
