moms are fun and cupcakes taste good

The other day my mom came over to help me with some yard work. It was really fun. I told her that I thought I would always be a child because all I wanted to do was jump into our pile of leaves instead of cleaning it up. She said that was okay and that she liked that side of my personality. I think it's somehow more charming as an adult than it was when I actually was a kid.

I'm very impressionable when I see pictures of food. Influenced by these photos from Jeana Sohn's blog, I made cupcakes with chocolate frosting which we devoured after doing our yard work. (That's my favorite plate. It's by Lena Corwin. Did you see her in the new issue of Domino? Awesome.)

Yay for baking! I made a cake last week, I forgot to take a photo though. I think you would have liked it, caramel apple spice cake. It was like eating a season.

those cupcakes look good! and i totally know what you mean about childish behavior being more endearing to your mom now that you're not actually a child- i think my mom's the same way!

OK, so you encouraged me to bake some chocolate frosted cupcakes, but my didnt turn out too well. I have no idea what happened, since I bake ALL the time, but the frosting on the ones you made, made me go to bed dreaming of chocolate heaven.
