good news

Brooklyn in December

After Joe didn't match with any urology residency program back in January, he had to scramble for one of four open spots that were left. He was competing with at least a hundred people who didn't match, so we tried not to get our hopes up too much. After going on a few interviews and waiting waiting waiting, we found out last night that he got one of the spots! We are so excited! So it's official. We're moving to New York in June, which is where we will spend the next six years of our lives.

Oh YEAH that is so exciting! Imagine, after all the angst and all the stress that you end up in NYC - are you excited? My husband and I visited three times while living in London and each time I wished I could live there. congrats-i'm a native brooklynite. remember there are other areas than park slope, williamsburg, brooklyn heights. Most of them have cheaper, newer house and parking. Look into gravesend, bay ridge, dyker heights areas.

I'm really happy to hear this Jenny. I shared in what I think is the confusion that after years of hard work, you don't have the reward you hoped for. So I am delighted when I see that life works itself out as you said. This is really encouraging - thanks for sharing this and ... wish me luck with my own happy endings ;)

In my opinion - New York gets the reward of your fabulous style!

I've never commented before, but I read with empathy this whole residency match episode. I went through the whole med school, residency, and first job stresses with my husband. He finished his residency 7 years ago. In reflection, I must say that everything really did work out for the best through it all. Our life is good and pretty predictable at this point, and he enjoys the work. Be gentle with each other.

I didn't leave any comments either when I first heard the news about the residency match. I'm glad to hear it is all working out. Will you be in NYC or elsewhere in New York?
