Brooklyn in DecemberAfter Joe didn't match with any urology residency program back in January, he had to scramble for one of four open spots that were left. He was competing with at least a hundred people who didn't match, so we tried not to get our hopes up too much. After going on a few interviews and waiting waiting waiting, we found out last night that he got one of the spots! We are so excited! So it's official. We're moving to New York in June, which is where we will spend the next six years of our lives.

My husband and I visited three times while living in London and each time I wished I could live there. I've even tried to persuade him to seek an employer based on secondment opportunities - he's now with one so who knows ..!!! Congratulations to you both.

Ah hah! That's wonderful! How fabulous that you are going to be in New York for the next six years! Um, hello miss fashion girl...this is perfect for you!
Also just want to thank the person who posted this saying on another comment thread:
"The barn has burned down, now I can see the moon." I love that. :-)
Congratulations! Brooklyn missed you!
congrats! that's wonderful. welcome to nyc!
Congratulations! Maybe I'll see you here!
I'm really happy to hear this Jenny. I shared in what I think is the confusion that after years of hard work, you don't have the reward you hoped for. So I am delighted when I see that life works itself out as you said. This is really encouraging - thanks for sharing this and ... wish me luck with my own happy endings ;)
In my opinion - New York gets the reward of your fabulous style!
holy cow jenny, that is so great!
Congratulations! I have been a New Yorker for 12 years and a Brooklynite for 11. It is a magical place to live. Welcome! You'll have to come visit Brooklyn General, a wonderful yarn and fabric store in Carroll Gardens.

I'm so happy for the two of you!
Happy moving to New York!
Congratulations! So happy for you guys!
Congrats, Jenny!
I've never commented before, but I read with empathy this whole residency match episode. I went through the whole med school, residency, and first job stresses with my husband. He finished his residency 7 years ago. In reflection, I must say that everything really did work out for the best through it all. Our life is good and pretty predictable at this point, and he enjoys the work. Be gentle with each other.
Congratulations! I'm so glad it worked out for you in the end.
congratulations! how exciting (and i'm sure a relief!) for both of you. start packin'!
Yay! I love happy endings. Oh, we are both starting new lives in new cities! Good luck. It's a good thing you have friends there to make the move a smooth one. How wonderful!

Congratulations! It all turned out great in the end. That is quite the accomplishment, especially since the second round of matching is much more competitive. Way to go Joe & Jenny!
Hooray! Congratulations!
Congrats! Hope you love it. (And I hear the real estate is getting slightly cheaper!)
I didn't leave any comments either when I first heard the news about the residency match. I'm glad to hear it is all working out. Will you be in NYC or elsewhere in New York? I can really appreciate urologists as I watch my 80 year-old father deal with increasingly serious medical complications all stemming from what initially was a bladder problem...
Best of luck to you both.
you could not be luckier. new york will love you both very much. congratulations.
Oh I'm so happy for you! I was so sad to read about how bummed you were- so YAY for NY!
Yay! Congratulations--it sounds great.
Moon River is one of my favorite places and I live so close by. We have to get together once you move here. Are you moving to Williamsburg???
wow! how cool is that?! i'm sure it's going to be a great change.
YAY! I'm really glad to hear it all worked out! If i could live anywhere else, New York would definitely be it. Congrats!
What an incredible turn-around--far better than what you had hoped for and was disappointed by initially. This story is a testament to faith and the silver lining. Congratulations!
Congratulations! New York is so happy to have you back....
