my new home

I'm here, in New York! And I finally just got internet access yesterday. Our apartment is a total mess, as we are still unpacking and arranging. But the bedroom is completely done, so I thought I'd post a few pics. I feel so comfortable in my new place and am having a good time so far. I can't say the same for my cats unfortunately. They seem to hate the loud city noises and keep clawing at the front door as if to say "Let me see the rest of the house! Surely this can't be all there is to it?" Seymour went on a hunger strike for four days. But I believe that in time they will adjust, as will I. I'm enjoying the neighborhood and the delicious smell of baking bread that wafts into the window every night from the bakery a few doors down. Also, there is good news for me--my office is big enough to fit my sewing table! I'll post more photos as soon as everything starts coming together. I think things are about to get way more exciting on this blog...

It looks beautiful, and best wishes to you. I hope Brooklyn, and all of New York, lays down a welcome mat for you.
Come up here to the outer reaches sometime; it's lovely up here, too!
Take care! and welcome (to your new)home.

Welcome (back) to new york, Jenny! What neighborhood are you guys in? We'll have to have a new york blogger meet up! You've come at a terrible gross weather time. This rain is ridiculous.

The poster and the windows it's between reminded me so strongly of one of my favorite domino magazine articles that I almost thought you had moved into that same home.

It's beautiful. All of your interior design is impeccable.

Looks amazing... we recently moved from a house to a flat, and after a week or so our cats had adjusted just fine. I'm sure yours will too!

I love those walls! Congrats on your beautiful new place. And your kitties will adjust--when I moved into my last new place, my cats would not leave their carriers for the first week.

The apartment looks amazing! Good luck getting settled.

This place is huge compared to NYC apartments I've seen. Good luck explaining that to your cats!

I'm so glad that it seems to be working out for you! And the cats will adjust, I'm sure. They (cats in general) never like ANY change, no matter what it is, do they?

hooray!
don't worry about those kitties, they will adjust. my dog lived here for a year and though i did end up sending him to live with my family (he needed a yard) he adjusted really well to all of the noises and smells of the city. just takes some time.

Yay! Hooray for getting settled and having room in the office for the sewing table! I'm glad to hear the move was a success. I'm sure the cats will adjust.
I fly to Toronto next week to do my own apartment search. Your successful move has me hopeful mine will be the same!

I´m so glad to hear that everything is turning in a good way over there. It´s often hard to let go of the old, but then when you do that, everything looks brighter and you see more opportunities and get new perspectives. I´m in a same situation now here in Finland. I need to move in a different city and smaller apartment because of my job. I´m a little concerned how my dog is going to adjust to this, my husband is going to be fine, that is for sure. I hope that after couple of months I´m feeling as full of enthusiasm as you seem to feel right now.

Thanks for sharing - the bedroom looks lovely and very welcoming. I hope it starts to really feel like home sooner than later. I think it's a big deal to go from a house, with no shared walls, to shared walls and ceilings too - fingers crossed everyone around is as considerate as you!
