fingers crossed

I don't have much to share today. I came down with a bad cold yesterday, and it's been raining quite a bit. So I've been in bed with a good book mostly. And Arrested Development of course, which never fails to cheer me up. I'm so sad to be sick right now because my best friend is coming to visit tomorrow from out of town. I don't want to be sick while she's here! And I certainly don't want it to rain. Either way I'm sure we'll manage to have fun, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all this clears up by the time she gets here.

feel better, Jenny! I hate having colds in the summer, but at least the weather is so crappy lately you aren't missing much outside.

I hope you feel better soon! I had a nasty summer cold a few weeks ago too, so my sympathies are with you. Just be sure to rest up! :)

Feel better! I'm feeling a little under the weather, too, and am hoping it's allergies. Having visitors should perk you up a little. Have fun!

I hope it all clears up! I always seem to get sick while vacationing. Either way, no fun!

Not good. I find Vitamin C powder taken throughout the day kicks a cold in no time. Good luck!

Feel better soon Jenny.

I'm sure you and Elly will have a good time regardless.

I hate summer colds. Drink plenty of fluids, try taking a few doses of Emergen- C (sold at most health food stores). Get plenty of sleep tonight.

Sometimes I like to make a Lemon-ginger 'hot toddy.'
I simmer some slices of fresh ginger in a small pan of water...bring it to a boil. I squeeze the juice of a whole lemon in to the pot, pour the mixture into a mug (you can strain out the ginger chunks- but I like to leave them in)and add honey to taste. Speedy recovery :)

Fingers crossed definitely! I hope you're soon feeling better and that the weather clears up in time for your friend's visit. My sister is coming to NY from SF tomorrow and we also have our fingers crossed for good weather.

i hope you feel better soon. i find the best thing to kick it is oil of oregano. it tastes horrible but a few drops in some water, a few times a day, you'll be good as new!
enjoy your visit!

lemon, ginger and honey drinks totally sort me out too.
As do frequent hot showers and plenty of water!
Have a great time with your friend.

Hey, I have been reading your blog quietly for a few weeks now and really enjoy it.

I hope you will feel better soon and that the rain will stop as well.

I've been reading your blog for a while know, (and you've inspired me to set down my knitting needles and take out the fabric; and then pick up the needles -- cafe curtains with a knit lace fringe in production.)

I found the July/August issue of a magazine I'd never noticed before -- Selvedge -- in a bookstore last week. Reminds me of your blog. Surely it's available in NYC? Would be just the thing to get better with. it's online at selvedge.org. (I am in no way affiliated with the magazine; wish that I were.)

Hope you feel better, and your visit is both dry and wonderous.

Selvedge is an amazing publication (almost too nice to call a magazine)! I just wish it didn't cost so much in the US. $25 per issue is well outside of my budget :(

summer colds are simply the worst. hopefully, though it's just a fleeting bit of illness and you'll have an amazing visit with your friend!

By now I hope you are feeling much, much better, and enjoying your time with Elly in NYC! There's nothing worse than a summer cold...it feels inappropriate somehow. Can't wait to read about all your adventures together.
