his and hers haircuts

Joe and I both have appointments tomorrow to get haircuts at the same time! Fun. This is the first time either of us have had haircuts since moving here, and we're both a little nervous to try a new place. Okay, I'm nervous, I'm nervous. He doesn't really care. But I'm sure he will give me moral support. Or just make fun of me if it goes badly. : ) He's thinking he wants to get the "Daniel Day Lewis" (from There Will Be Blood), and I'm getting my hair bobbed, a la Freja Beha in the above photo. So basically there will be a 1920's theme to the day's haircuts, ha! I spent some time last night looking at men's haircuts on the Library of Congress' flickr photostream when the only description Joe could give me of what he wanted was an "old-timey" haircut. And then Joe remembered that movie. Daniel Day Lewis does look pretty dapper in that photo, doesn't he?

I'm sure you will both look great. Is Joe growing a mustache to match?

PS: I received my dress and i LOVE it.

Jenny,
I think the bob will look GREAT on you...you could go even shorter!
I remember the pics of you recently when you & Joe were in L.A.
You had your hair pulled back- with little wisps falling around your ears- it looked at first like you had bobbed your hair, and I thought it looked beautiful.
You have such a gorgeous face, anything would look good on you.
The Daniel Day Lewis cut is very dapper... just as long as Joe doesn't start screaming "I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!!!!"

oh my gosh... we watched There Will Be Blood on Sunday night, and I have to say, I was far from impressed. however, I did love the old time fashion and small town looks. and Daniel Day Lewis hair is pretty dapper.

I can't wait to see your new do! makes me want to chop mine. I haven't even cut it since October!!!

i just had 5 inches cut off yesterday, but i'm not brave enough to go above shoulder length. i think you'll look great with a bob, though.

i hope joe considers a moustache, even just for halloween! there some amazing silent sequences in There Will Be Blood. that was a good year for movies...

My guy has a face that looks best with a classic men's haircut, and he's always had the best ones at and old-school barber.

Look for one of those stripey poles outside, a non-swanky exterior, and an old-fashioned name (in our recent cases, Lester and Pino). Great haircuts, and they tend to be chatty fellows... it's a whole wonderful old-world experience.

That's the best ever.

that picture looks cute, but i just got back from the hairdresser who was absolutely TIRED of giving everyone bobs... they're soooo over, and now everyone is coming in asking her to "get rid of the bob!"
(and i don't exactly live in a trendy, fashion-forward city either)
so that's my only friendly caution about the bob. i'm sure you'll make it unique and different!

well, it doesn't matter to me what's trendy or not. that's just a haircut that i think looks good on me. i've had it off and on for years between other hair cuts. i got it last winter after the whole long hair/bangs thing, and now it's a way overgrown bob that needs to be short again. to me, a cute haircut is just a cute haircut. i don't take it too seriously.

The 'bob' is a classic cut. It will never go out of style. You GO Jenny. You have excellent instincts in terms of what will look good on you (and others!).I can't wait to see pictures.

Thanks, Jennifer! I think it's a classic cut too, and I prefer to be classic over trendy most of the time (but there are exceptions).

sounds cute, hope they cut it just the way you want! (that's always my fear when i get a shorter cut).

how does one get rid of a bob? the only thing i can think of is go shorter or get extensions or grow it out but that's a bit above the hairdresser's paygrade, isn't it? just curious, what is in if bobs are over? i'm serious, anyone? but i think jenny's turned out cute eh? woah i use a lot of ?s don't i??????????????????????
