i love paris in the fall

From the Fall 2009 collections of French labels: Cacharel, Sessun, and A.P.C. Madras.

Fall hair and makeup ideas (clockwise) from: hair_chameleon, Mary Kate Downes, Fox in Mociun, and Tsuyo.

Aren't these looks pretty for fall?  Messy hair with a bare face and red lipstick seems so French to me.  What is the perfect red lipstick?  Do you have a favorite?  My other French fall essentials are long sleeve striped tees,  a short sleeve black coat, ankle boots, and Liberty print button downs.

I've just noticed after sorting through my closet that everything in my wardrobe as well as most of my fall fashion picks seem to follow a color palette of black/gray, white, blue, and red.  It's kind of crazy, but I guess I just can't help it.

I do makeup and have had plenty of run in's with true red lipsticks.

Personally, thus far - my favorite is Russian Red by MAC. Theres a really good nars pencil too that is pretty true red but, I can't remember what its called!

There is something about fall that just screams for one small splash of bright red, and I adore that pair of red stockings with the white dress.

Every time I see an image like this I wish I could pull off red lipstick ... and then I chicken out. I always blame the fact that I haven't found the perfect red yet, but I suspect I'm just a wuss. :)

Anna Bond did a fall-picks list, and it's all blue/red, too!

This fall, I am all about plum and olive and navy, as well as wave-ironing my hair! No red lipstick for me, though.

Ohh everything is lovely! Just beautiful. I've never tried red lipstick, being a redhead I figured it would be too much red. You think? <3

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in "Dragon Girl"...it stays on forever and seriously looks so amazing. Every time I wear it out I get tons of compliments.

Love this whole post...I'm feeling the same way at the moment.

MAC's Ruby Woo is amazing...though it is matte and I have found best when applied with lip balm...and your post...AMAZING!

Oh this post is exactly how I'm feeling about this autumn. I can't pull off a strong red lip but there's one by Lipstick Queen called Saint Rouge that is the perfect colour, stays on but doesn't have loads of pigment. I must have recommended it to 1000 people. Ah, now I'm going to put my ankle boots on, some red lipstick and go and scrunch through leaves...

White, black, blue, and red. Hey! What where you doing in my closet Jenny? LOL. No really sometimes it makes me feel like an old lady. I am so driven toward classic colors that go the distance.

I've had that - is this all I wear?! - awakening too recently. I'm trying to choose at least 1 & 1/2 colors a season to incorporate into my cream, grey, blue palette. keep us posted on your lipstick findings!

The Mociun model's look is so perfect it makes me want to run out today and get bangs again and splurge on a red lipstick and buy that tee shirt! And the messy braid on the hair chameleon model...amazing. These are all such beautiful styles--thank you as always for the inspiration. Thank you too for the link--I was on Flickr earlier and thought, why have hundreds of people looked at my coat photo? ;-) My favorite lipstick is a plum color called "Natalie" by Stila. I think it may have been discontinued but you can still get it on eBay.

I love Chili by MAC. The perfect warm red. Bold and matte with a thick coat, sheer and stain-like when blotted. So nice.

My favorite red lipstick is Dior Addict 649. It's the perfect transition from summer into fall colour. So pretty! Also, I think I now have to try the messy braid across the forehead hairstyle.

old news, i'm sure, but i've always bought MAC's Viva Glam I. (looks like they're all the way up to Viva Glam VI now.) it's red red, but not the "makes you look pale" kind of red. and all the money you pay for it goes to an AIDS fund. the nars pencil people mentioned sounds interesting.

I'd love to wear red lipstick, but I always think it makes my teeth look dull and yellow...or maybe that's just 'cause I'm English and we don't have perfect smiles like most Americans!

sounds like the perfect fall wardrobe, if you ask:)

so nice! I love the hair and make-up looks. My friend works at a magazine and once gave me a Dior red lipstick and it was so soft and smooth and bright!

I'll second the Chili by Mac (and now I'm craving chili-mac...) endorsement. It's gorgeous as a stain too!
