chasing away some winter blues

photo from www.shabdismyname.com

I've been a very, very bad blogger!  I'm sorry.  For some reason I don't transition well from vacation and then back to blogging.  I think this time it partly has to do with the fact that I've got a little bit of the winter blues.  No more holidays or vacations on the horizon.  (Valentine's Day is nothing compared to Thanksgiving and Christmas in my opinion.)  I get very lazy and wimpy in the winter and end up just sort of hibernating.  Really all I want to do is curl up on the couch and knit.  I need to take photos soon of all the things I've been making, but I'll do it later....

In the meantime, what better way to chase away the the winter blues than to talk about shopping sales?  Everything in the Mociun online store is 20-80% off now!  Woohoo!  I just bought this dress, which I've been waiting very patiently for.  What I love about Caitlin's dresses is that you can wear them year round, so you really get your money's worth.  This will be my third tie-front dress.  What can I say?  I'm stocking up because I heard a rumor that she's discontinuing that style.

Also, Shabd Simon-Alexander and Caitlin Mociun have come out with a collaboration!  It's a Mociun bikini with Shabd's signature tie-dye print.  So cute.  It's already on sale, and if you pre-order by January 25, you get 30% off.  Word.

Also, one more thing.  I went to Madewell on Broadway the other day and bought a pair of their boyfriend jeans for $22 freaking dollars!  They're so comfortable and will be perfect for working in.  There's a table upstairs at the back full of sale jeans.  Liz, one of my blog readers, was working there and said hi.  Sweet.

Jenny, living in Portland, Oregon makes it quite easy to understand the winter blues/blahs--especially when it comes to blogging. Thanks for posting about the bikini. I LOVE Shabd’s work, although I don't think I could pull off that bikini--it's lovely anyway. Take care during these yucky days. Your blog is really a bright spot for me (that's not to put pressure on you to post more! : > )

I was just about to write a blog post about the same thing: winter blues. I've *willed* myself to post, but it's not easy. I find myself watching entirely too many French films and knitting anything I can get my hands on! It's just a season, though (literally and figuratively)... it won't last forever. So, in the mean time, enjoy the couch and the knitting. :)

mm, i need new jeans. i bought a pair of r13s on sale for $160 and am feeling dumb because they stretch out in awful places. maybe madewell is the place to go.

that bikini is so cute, but i don't think i'm ever going to wear one again. wait. that might just be the winter blues talking.

we're in limbo right now, waiting about a few jobs that may entail moving in the next few months. makes me feel poor and boring!

Sorry to hear you have a case of the winter blues, me too!
Love the Shabd/Mociun bikini,
tempted to get it, but my body may really be changing this year...
Thanks for the heads up on the Mociun sale. I've been waiting for that, too. Just bought the "Earth" dress! (It's shameful how many tie front dresses of hers I have, but you are right, they are seasonless). Did you see the SP 10 stuff of hers I posted on my blog?
Happy New Year, Jenny-
hope you feel better soon, and it's always nice to read your posts!

ooooooh, Jenny, how you tempt me so! I'm quite excited to hear abt the Mociun sale, since those drop-crotch pants are finally on sale, but I have no $$$ : ( maybe soon, maybe soon...and $22 at Madewell?! that's unheard of...and I agree with you and all the other ladies; the winter weather can be a bit of a downer...can't wait for the spring...

Wow, I just posted about Shabd's work too (I saw it on NY Mag), I think the prints are just so elegant and modern. I might have to wander down to Madwell, I've been neglecting purchasing jeans because I've convinced myself I"m going to lose 5 lbs, but that was like 3 months ago . . .

Discontinuing the tie-front dress?! Oh, dear. There goes my willpower.

i hope she isn't discontinuing the tie front dress. i've no money to buy right now and was waiting for add'l discounts. except, now the uber cheap ones are gone. just my luck. the one week i dont pay attention to her webstore. am debating on the atri skirt. i wish i could tell if it would look good on me since her return policy says i cant return sale items. fit is important on a tailored skirt. bah!

as for winter blues. i know what you mean..................

wow those are some great sales! and that bikini is too cute. i'm seriously thinking of purchasing it. i feel your winter/lack of vacation pain. all the ice and snow in boston has gotten me in that same state of mind. hopefully a new purchase will turn my mood around. thanks for sharing!!
