warm + dry

I love snow, but yesterday was not fun.  I was out and about all day running important errands, and at one point I had to dig my car out of the snow with a shovel.  The weather was so nasty--everything was half icy and half slushy, which made driving a real treat.  So last night I stayed home and started working on some really thick, warm socks while watching Lost.  They'll be perfect for inside my Sorrels or for just wearing around the house.   Knitting always has the power to give me such comfort at the end of a long day.

I really need to try knitting socks. It's like my last great knitting hold-out. Your work always looks so simple and lovely!

so true! Last night I was really happy to get home from an evening at work and watch lost and work on my knitting, I'm working on your loop scarf! Although I do have to pay attention while I'm knitting, I'll forget to look up sometimes :)

I love the look of these new socks, Jenny! They remind me of classic fisherman's boots or work gloves, in the best possible way. I didn't know you are a fan of Lost--so much fun. Part of me wants the show to be over because I've been waiting so long to learn the secrets of the island, and part of me never wants it to end. Yesterday's weather WAS nasty--I was alternately hot from the many layers I was wearing and chilled to the bone all day. I was also hoping to remedy that with a couple of hours of knitting, but then took a wrong turn with the neckline of a sweater I am working on and never recovered. I settled for some men's figure skating therapy instead (although Blades of Glory kind of ruined the whole event for me...I can't even watch without thinking of Will Ferrell and giggling!). All best!!

I am usually a fan of snow too, but this year it has been unrelenting. Usually we get a few big snowstorms that mess with the roads for a day or so, but I feel like it is an "adventure" every time I get in my car this winter! I hope your day today goes much better!

I haven't been knitting lately and I miss it. I can't seem to get into a project. I love the mitten you are working on! Grey and orange are a match made in heaven.

I would LOVE to learn how to make socks. It's one of my goals to become more self-sufficient instead of consuming as much, and socks are one of my favorite things to wear! (Call me crazy :P).
