rainy day inspiration

Ilsa Jacobsen rainboots (don't remember where this photo is from).

Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher in Murder She Wrote (via Elly), one of my childhood role models.  I would love to find a vintage yellow raincoat just like this.  Classic.

Classic duck boots and long ragg socks for braving any New England weather.

I was caught unprepared in quite a downpour on Saturday, and it's been raining ever since.  After my jeans and shoes were completely soaked through, I had a chill in my bones that I couldn't get rid of all weekend.  So I stayed in.  I even missed going to the sale (and my wallet thanked me).  It's clear that I need to buy some rain gear before I dare leave the house again, and I've been researching my options from the comfort of my own apartment.  I don't actually live in New England, but I don't mind pretending that I do while wearing some very classic rain gear.

those ilsa jacobsen boots are amazing, perfect, etc. I might actually venture out in pouring rain just so I could show them off.

the rain was quite depressing on the weekend but it also felt sort of cozy too. i love all the anoraks you picked!

they sell the short ilsa jacobsens's at le train bleu: http://letrainbleu.com/ilsejacobsenlaceupshorties--chocolate.aspx

this I know because I cried that they didn't have my size. The camel pair is even cuter! http://letrainbleu.com/ilsejacobsenlaceupshorties--camel.aspx

I love this ode to New England!

I am sorry you got soaked on Saturday! The weather was seriously nasty--we went to the gym in the morning and I swear the rain was falling horizontally because of the strong winds. It sounds like you had a restorative rest of your weekend though!

I was wondering how the weather might affect the designer sale. Do you think you will be updating the shop with the dresses and tops you were planning to sell on Sunday?

Land's End carries a pretty close version of the Murder She Wrote rain slicker: http://www.landsend.com/pp/StormSlickerRainParka-68979_194190_59.html?cm_mmc=BizRate-_-null-_-FP-_-data_feed

All the best!

I saw some Ilsa Jacobsen boots at the Madewell in Soho a couple of weeks ago. I loved my Sporto duck boots and wore them all through college rainy days. I'd love another pair now.

I've obsessed with yellow rain coats. My favourite one pictured in Holland a few years ago (terribly unflattering pic!) here http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2505707&op=4&o=global&view=global&subj=514031687&id=514031687
is now getting pretty tatty so hoping to upgrade. Very handily a couple of friends of mine have designed a menswear line including a lovely yellow raincoat!

You might like the line actually it's called Percival here's the link http://www.percivalclo.com/

this is adorable! and makes me miss the dreary east coast rains. don't buy a raincoat! i saw a yellow one just like angela's at the thrift store, but since i already have a red one, i couldn't justify buying another. i'll go check and see if they still have it! they also had a pair of those exact duck boots AND about a million pairs of vintage ariat boots. that thrift store - magical, just magical.

also, we got your message just before bed and then had to research this my little pony ferris wheel you speak of. t started bouncing off the walls when we found a youtube video of it, got worried, then said, "but mom, i thought kids weren't allowed in new york city!!! this is terrible!"

I know a place to get those yellow raincoats! A shop in Berlin called 'Kwik' stocks them - http://www.kwikshop.de/

They have such an intense rubber smell as well - v. oldschool!

Jessica Fletcher is without a doubt the greatest tv character of all time; murder she wrote never fails to cheer me up on a rainy afternoon!

The weather in my new home has been gorgeous, but seeing these pictures makes me ache for cold, gloomy Portland days.

The raincoat looks like a Guy Cotten one I just got rid of last year (I know, I know, but I just couldn't handle the bulk). I've been hunting for one online to no avail.

I've never really watched Murder she wrote, I'm more of a Columbo person, but I agree with the rain coat...

I got a great yellow raincoat from Dickies for £6. (I'm in the UK.)

I've never seen those duck boots before and love them! Wonder if I can get them here.. The Ilsa Jacobsen's are just perfection...
