bust magazine + fox ring

I wore this Odette Fox Ring in the latest issue (Aug/Sept) of BUST magazine.  Isn't it so super cool?  It's part of Sarkilahti's fall collection "The Fells", the rest of which hasn't been released yet.  I'm so excited about her new stuff because it's all incredible.

I was photographed for BUST by Anna Wolf (love her), and you can see my page here.  I loved doing the shoot because I got to pick things made by my friends and other favorite independent designers, including a Mociun dress from Caitlin's fall collection.  The print on the fabric is amazing, as is everything else from the collection.  It sure was tough choosing.

I'm reposting Sarkilahti's photos because I left my camera at work and couldn't take any.  I hate it when that happens!  Her photos are always gorgeous though, so I'm glad she captured the evening for us.  The garden party at Fay and Ben's was the epitome of the perfect party.  They made the best tacos I've ever had, not to mention homemade lemon + olive oil ice cream.  I myself made two pitchers of sangria.  The weather was perfect for once, and all the fates conspired to make a completely lovely evening with friends.

rompers!

I love my Mociun jumpsuit from last fall's collection, and I wear it a lot.  It's so hot out right now that I really wanted a shorts version that I could wear in the summer, so Caitlin and I teamed up to create some of these rompers exclusively for the Wiksten online store.  Here's a picture of me in mine.  This style is surprisingly flattering on everyone, and I've already sold a few to my friends that tried them on.

Shop update news:  Shop is open tonight at 9PM Eastern time.  Here's what I'll have: Chambray Ikat Dress in S and M, Wiksten + Mociun Tank in XS, S, and M, Mociun Romper in M and L, and Woven Tee in S and M.  Also, I'll have sewing patterns for the tank top + dress that I'm teaching in class right now in sizes XS-XL.  Unfortunately, I am completely sold out of everything else from my spring + summer collection.  There will be an updated list of items, prices, and sizes posted on the collection log site by 8:30PM tonight.

Beautiful rings from Fay Andrada.  Fay's studio is next to mine, and I like her very much.  I tried this one on yesterday, and I'm first in line to buy it when it comes out.  Her blog is here, and her shop here.

My studio is being photographed today, and these photos of the Correll Correll studio from Domahoka are really inspiring me.  The tables made of bright yellow sawhorses!  The beautiful yarn!  The handmade goodness!  The Domahoka blog is so fantastic.

summer news

I was a bit absent from this space last week mainly because I took ill from sunstroke.  I enjoyed a fabulous Fourth of July with friends and then a trip to the beach the next day, but all of it was outside in 95+ degree weather.  Like an idiot, I forgot to drink any water.  As a result, I was pretty sick for a couple of days.  I think I learned my lesson.  I sometimes do.

This week I'm fully back into the swing of things, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm so busy!  I have a few pretty exciting things coming up that I need to prepare for, but more on that later.  The important thing to say is that next week I'll be having one last summer shop update, and then all this season's stuff will be gone.  Also....some of you might like this because you've been asking me for ages...I'll be selling some of my sewing patterns!  Stay tuned for more info.

pizza!

Yep, pizza deserves an exclamation point in my opinion.  Especially the one from this recipe.  I used fresh, organic swiss chard and garlic from this week's batch of CSA veggies.  I'd never had swiss chard before (!!!), and I think it's so beautiful and delicious.  I also roasted some of the CSA squash with olive oil, thyme, salt, and pepper for a side dish.  Wow, I could really get used to having all of these fresh vegetables around.

Unfortunately my career doesn't leave much time for cooking right now, so when I do get to it's really special.  I planned an evening of making pizza and watching Mad Men season 3 with Joe last night, and I was so excited about it at work during the day that it was all I could think about.  Luckily everything went perfectly, and we even walked to the ice cream shop afterward.  Homemade pizza, wine, ice cream, and Mad Men--what more could you want?
