I made my brother-in-law's wife a cozy pair of socks for Christmas this year. The cashmere + merino yarn was delightful to knit, and I love the color. Charcoal is neutral enough to go with anything, but the subtle variations in tone make it special. I've already seen Julie wearing them, so I'm happy. She's a runner (just ran the New York City marathon, woohoo!), and I like to think of them as a special treat for her tired feet. Tomorrow I'll show you what I got from my secret santa--it's pretty awesome.

Hello, I just wanted to say that I've admired your blog for a very long time. It is a constant source of interest and style inspiration ,both simple and beautiful.
Oh I am totally digging the sock talk (and all knitting talk in general). I have two pairs to knit up as part of a gift voucher I offered a friend at Christmas and I'm just waiting for some new gear to arrive by mail. You're getting me in the spirit!
