secret santa socks

my secret santa gift for julie

my secret santa gift for julie

I made my brother-in-law's wife a cozy pair of socks for Christmas this year.  The cashmere + merino yarn was delightful to knit, and I love the color.  Charcoal is neutral enough to go with anything, but the subtle variations in tone make it special.  I've already seen Julie wearing them, so I'm happy.  She's a runner (just ran the New York City marathon, woohoo!), and I like to think of them as a special treat for her tired feet.  Tomorrow I'll show you what I got from my secret santa--it's pretty awesome.

Hello, I just wanted to say that I've admired your blog for a very long time. It is a constant source of interest and style inspiration ,both simple and beautiful.

Oh I am totally digging the sock talk (and all knitting talk in general). I have two pairs to knit up as part of a gift voucher I offered a friend at Christmas and I'm just waiting for some new gear to arrive by mail. You're getting me in the spirit!

These look great, by the way. And the socks from the other day stole my heart and haven't relinquished it yet (the ones you knit for yourself). Swoon.

I'm beginning to wonder if you've discovered a way to add 12 hours to each day...

Those are lovely,
I've been a knitter for over 10 years and NEVER made a sock. I may just have to now! The colorway is truly beautiful!

I have never knitted before, but between your post on how to begin, and this one on some beautiful results, I am definitely considering becoming a newbie!
