new work from the dobbin mews

new fay andrada
new remade usa

The shapes of Fay's new pieces are so sophisticated.  Jewelry that makes a statement while remaining perfectly simple is rare.  It's so cool that she makes everything by hand herself.  You should see her hands!  I love hands that are a bit beat up because they bear the evidence of hard work.

And Shannon's new reMade USA leather totes are so minimalist and chic.  Maybe I can buy one and move to Paris and go shopping for baguettes or something.  That wouldn't be too bad.  By the way, they're made out of old pairs of leather pants!  Ingenuity, folks.

Loved meeting both when I was there!
Once again I find myself wishing I had pierced ears because of the earrings you have pictured.
Wonderful pieces, nice people :)

I'm so happy that simplicity is really being embraced recently by many designers - just a few years ago it was so hard to find anything that didn't have a little extra this or that on it. It's so nice to see Fay and Shannon's work - it's so pretty and beautiful! And I'm so with on you the baguettes!

I agree with Julia. About six years ago, all I wanted was a bit of lace on everything or ruched shoulders. Now simple but striking is what I love. What you wrote about Fay's hands really resonated with me. There's something very powerful about the tradition of making things with your hands and having the calluses and scars to show for it.

Ha, recently I made a leather bag with old leather pants too, and talked about that process on my blog with Shannon! I have to say, I was inpired by her bags made of jackets to make my bag...

Just gorgeous pieces ... each and every one.

And wow, those leather totes are really clever and have such a nice, clean design. I love that they're made from old leather pants - ingenious!! :D

those bags are really beautiful but it's hard not to think about who was wearing those leather pants.

I have a similar bag to that black one - I bought it in Israel and the shop girl proudly told me that it was made from Nappa leather. it's the most useful bag I own, I use it everyday.

and yay for new stuff!
