b-day presents for joe

I turned 30 last week, and Joe turned 32.  Are we officially adults now?  It's starting to feel like it in a way.  Over the past six month I've felt a shift in our lives, and we've had to make some difficult life decisions.  But that's boring, more on that another time...

The birthdays were fun this year.  I got Joe this, this, and some other fun stuff.  He bought me a seltzer-maker.  Yay!  I've been wanting one forever.  Now I can have bubbly water whenever I like.  Fancy.  I showed up at work to an extravagance of birthday treats, banners, balloons, and presents.  The kindness of my friends here is unfailingly touching.  Nicolette made me a gorgeous floral birthday crown to wear, and a bunch of us cut out of work early to drink champagne and beer at Spritzenhaus.  I can't believe another year has already come and gone, but luckily it was a pretty sweet b-day.

Oh man, I'm pretty jealous! My coworkers are all scientists and all they do is awkwardly shake hands with the birthday person.

Happy B-Day!

I'm turning 20 next year and its a little sad not being a teenager anymore - I guess I have to start taking life a bit more seriously (ahh who am I kidding, eh?!)

Happy birthday! Sounds like you had the most wonderful party and have some truly awesome friends ;)

Happy birthday!

30 is just a baby! Over the threshold, but for the most part, your metabolism and collagen are still holding. So enjoy. Things (will) fall down, but life gets sweeter.

A seltzer maker--hooray! I've wanted one ever since I babysat for a family that had one.

Glad you and Joe both had happy birthdays!

Happy birthday! I just turned thirty, too, a couple of weeks ago. It is a strange and lovely feeling...I keep finding ways to work the fact that I'M THIRTY into most conversations...I feel like perhaps I'll be taken more seriously now that I'm an "adult"? I don't know...but so far I love this age and I hope you do too!! Your crown is gorgeous :)

Happy birthday! I think that seltzer maker is the best invention ever. It's been at the top of my wishlist for awhile now. I hope you get good use out of it! :)

Happy birthday to you both. I read every new post but hardly ever comment. Trying to change the reputation I have for being a blatherer, but upon clicking one of your links to gifts for Joe, I was reminded of how grateful I am that you put me onto MCMC fragrances; I ordered the sampler. I'm dearly in love with Kept, though a couple you said you liked -- Garden and Hunter -- are favorites, too. Anyway, I find you a beautiful person, inside and out, I wish the two of you everything that's good and bright, and I thank you for the blog. Be happy.

happy birthday! What a stunning birthday portrait - you look happy, and yes, grown-up =)

In fact ... any chance you'd let me use that portrait as the basis of a painting? It's so dreamy, I'd love to spend my summer painting that.

Belated happy birthday wishes, Jenny! I can honestly tell you that your 30s will be a fabulous decade--mine were (yes, I'm an old fogey). You and Joe may be adults, but never, ever believe that means you have to grow up!
