around the house, part one

The guest room.  This room seems to be one big experiment--I keep changing things and am never happy.  Completely content with my own bedroom, I wouldn't change a thing.  (Well, except I'd like a bigger dresser so I don't have to keep wrestling my clothes into it when there's clean laundry.)  But this room?  Ah, I don't know...nothing is good enough for my guests.  We've had different house guests constantly rotating in and out over the last three weeks, and I'm sitting here awaiting the arrival of two new visitors tonight.  The sheets and towels are clean again, and there's guaranteed to be at least one of three cats taking a snooze the second the guests arrive to make it attractive to them.

It looks very inviting in these photos. I can see how you would be a bit frustrated about not being able to get the room just right, but isn't it fun to have a space you can play with? I love decorating my home.

You know, it sounds like your guest room is the total opposite to ours - ours is currently a combination dumping space for clean laundry before it gets folded/clothes that I'm yet to donate to charity/Damian's sneaker collection overflow. They do have one thing in common - there is usually a cat curled up amongst the clothes/sneakers somewhere.

I love the colour of that yarn you're knitting with, by the way.

that kitten is doing an excellent job convincing me that this is a comfy place to sleep! i also like that you keep yarn on hands for your guests :-) are they often knitters?

Hello little monkey! You look just like my Sean. Can anything beat a little tabby belly? I don't think so!

Lucky you to have a guest room, and - even more so - lucky guests! And I know what you mean about the dresser: I kind of think of my laundry basket as handy storage space :-)

ohhh, that cat makes me want to visit JUST for the snuggles....what a cute addition to the guest room, haha! :)

and (like everyone else i'm sure) love that side table. it's the perfect size, and that wood has a great patina to it. but if you're worried about the room not coming together, what is it that you have in your own bedroom that this guest room lacks? because that might be the key to making this room perfect...

I love that white duvet (quilt?) with the branch pattern. Did you make that? It's really lovely.

It would be just perfect for a little snooze with the cats in your guest room.

Pretty tiny patterns.

Happy Sunday Jenny!

I second the comment about your quilt: beautiful! Is it a Les Indiennes fabric?

aw, i love how content little wolf looks! so cute. also, i love that side table! i've been on this unending quest to find a non-lame coffee table, and it seems completely fruitless. but that side table is what i'd love a coffee table to look like, just you know, in a coffee table version.
